Action Alert – State Members of Parliament Offices
Across NSW, local communities are taking action to make sure that politicians and the media can see that people won’t stand for an expansion of invasive unconventional gas extraction projects.
In the Northern Rivers, community actions are taking place in Lismore at Thomas George’s office 11.30am, at Don Page’s office in Ballina at 10.30am and Chris Gulaptis’ office in Grafton at 11.30am
Last year at the Kingfisher Well on the edge of the town of Casino, workman had to run for their lives as 150 metres of drilling rods were blasted into the air along with a huge fireball. Accidents like the Kingfisher incident have shown that there are very dangerous risks associated with this industry.
The Chief Scientist says are the “unintended consequences” due to accidents, human error and natural disasters. Out community is not prepared to take the risk and want the entire Northern Rivers to be decalred gasfield Free.
