4 Organise for action – Stage 2
Enjoy the rewards of a Stage 2 group
OK, your community has declared itself Gasfield Free. You’ve provided your data using the Spreadsheet. You’ve celebrated Stage 1. Now it’s time to evolve into a Stage 2 group.
The threat of invasive gas mining is a regional emergency. Our social movement can succeed if we all pitch in. If your community has only just gone Gasfield Free, remember that even a small local group is a valuable starting point. A journey of a thousand miles starts with one step. If your community is tiny, you may want to band together with a neighbouring community for this next part of the process.
Stage 2 groups are rewarding because they can function as local, supportive affinity groups. You will be more effective in a Stage 2 group. These flexible groups devolve responsibility. They can be mobilised fast. The groups bond and provide support if anyone needs help. Here is a useful Checklist for Stage 2 communities to get you started. You will also want to learn more about Non Violent Direct Action.
